Passion of the Bougainvillea

This painting was created during the global pandemic. Along the empty streets, bougainvillea bloomed vibrantly, standing in stark contrast to the helplessness of the world around them, yet embodying the resilient spirit of life under the scorching sun. This contrast inspired me to capture the fierce energy, passion, and enduring strength of the bougainvillea. 

The used of bold, dry brushstrokes to form the vines and layered the paint to give the flowers a three-dimensional effect, finishing with pearl paint to create a shifting play of colours under different lighting and environments.
